A very moving photo of the spanish wildlife photographer Igor Altuna. The newspaper says that the leopard took its prey back to its young. That played with the young baboon for an hour before it killed it. That's nature ....
@twt @rayckeith Totally agree!
I've had the great privilege of visiting the place mentioned in the original post, Volcanos National Park in Rwanda. Went on a hike up a mountain with guides to see the Highland Gorillas there. They're absolutely amazing. They live in an extended-family group with individuals of all sizes and ages.
Some were acting playfully and trying to get our attention, but others were clearly keeping a wary eye on us (even though we were keeping at a safe and respectful distance) in case they needed to step-in to protect the group from strangers.
I was on the tail-end of the group, and as we were leaving, I saw a Silverback who'd been quite defensive-looking had positioned itself between its group and our group. It stretched and relaxed, and caught my eye to let me know it was seeing-off our group. It was a very human gesture, and made it plain to see how closely related gorillas and humans are.

Broad-billed todies are endemic to the island of Hispaniola. I took this shot on a morning walk in Jarabacoa, Dominican Republic. Like many territorial insectivorous birds, they occupy a very small territory, which made it easy to spot the bird, return home to grab my camera and find it again in roughly the same spot.

A little more peace and serenity. Nature is the best counterbalance to the current madness. I fell in love with #Hummingbirds in 1975 at a primitive field camp facility. There was a nest outside my ‘cabin’, and I was able to watch her over the 6 week camp. I was transfixed and captivated. I search for nests at #OxleyNatureCenter, and watch from a safe distance as she builds the nest through fledging. I always give the bird a least 8 meters of space to prevent stress. #WildlifePhotograpy

De lilac breasted roller. De nationale vogel van Kenia. Schitterende kleuren vind ik zelf.
