I would recommend this book to anybody who wants to create a wildlife pond. This book is beautifully designed and illustrated by the RHS. Its instructions are clear and there is a project for all sizes of external space. Kate Bradbury is an amazing Gardener and a font of wildlife gardening knowledge.

Even a small container pond can have a huge impact on wildlife. At the start of the year, we partially sank an old Belfast sink and filled it with water mint, water forget-me-nots, and king cups. We surrounded it with logs and I chucked in a few snails. We've already had mayfly hatching all over the garden and our log pile is full of beetles.

Somebody asked about building a garden pond... Newts were among the first residents to move in when I built a pond many years ago. Today we still have a thriving population.

We've been trying to take decent photos of what's going on with the tadpoles and frogspawn in the pond but it's not going very well 😂 We need the 🌞 to come out and shine through the water! Wildlife pond. I took this video of my pond last summer. It is amazing to think, that 12 months before it was a hole in the garden, filled with a liner and water. It immediately attracted insects; flies, diving beetles and #dragonflies. The pond is now teeming with #wildlife. I am so glad we took the time to create the pond.

Fox-and-Cubs or orange hawkweed is one of my favourite wildflowers. I grew these from seed and they have made a beautiful display around my wildlife pond. They are quite invasive, so I will need to monitor their spread.

An interesting #wildlifepond renovation project that I visited this week in #Manchester. This #pond was once large enough to be seen on an Ordinance Survey map, which over the years, has been steadily filled in by bricks, car engines and much more! Time we put it back on the map!
