I have even more #respect today for #wildland #firefighters after trying to work outside in #Eugene #Oregon when the smoke from numerous small/medium fires descends on the southern #WillametteValley.

Even with a KN95 mask, breathing in this level of smoke is a chore. I cannot imagine what breathing while fighting the fires must be like.

In this screengrab from https://map.purpleair.com/1/mAQI/a10/p604800/cC0#10.23/44.0259/-123.15 you can see the readings from private sensor stations. Anything over 150 is rough, some are now hitting 300.

Didn't take a second allergy pill last night in the mistaken arrogance that was like "We got thru a 1301 grass pollen count day; a 340 isn't so bad!" Ummm no, no, no, self, *200* is very very high. Just got past tree allergy season here in the #WillametteValley, now it’s on to Round Two, grass allergies.

I live about 20NM south of the “Grass seed Capital of The World” near Corvallis, #Oregon. So when we get winds from the north, down here in #Eugene we take a direct hit.

And a look at the pollen count today reveals who I woke up feeling like a train hit me.

We are hosting Illahe Vineyards from the Willamette Valley for #OregonWineMonth on May 3rd and I needed to taste thru some more of their wines in preparation.
