Random thought. If G does end up going to #StJohnsCollege with B at #WilliamAndMary no child of mine would be attending a school founded after 1700. Being an American, this seems special and amusing. I'm perfectly aware that to the rest of the world this is commonplace.

I was nowhere near the top of my class in college during the 1980s. Four years of taunts and bullying from students and faculty left me withdrawn, guarded, and defeated.

Because I was gay, I was passed over for opportunities, ostracized, and even fired by the college from a campus tour job I loved. I was heartbroken.

Now my alma mater seems to expect me to get over it—in 90 minutes—to help their bottom line?

#WilliamAndMary, I've thrived despite you. Not because of you.
