Weird thing of the day. This is from a book I found while sorting through my parents' house.
The book is "The Lonely Ones" by William Steig, published in 1942. It is just a collection of captioned drawings like this, with kind of a 20th-century pop-psychology angle. Some are funny, some are touching, some are a bit mean-spirited. A quick Googling shows that many of the drawings were merchandised on ashtrays and highball glasses and things. #bookstodon #illustration #WilliamSteig
