The two initiatives are part of a broader effort by #Trump’s allies at the #Georgia Capitol & the U.S. #Congress to punish #Willis over the 51-count #indictment, which accuses Trump & 18 co-defendants of a sprawling “#criminal enterprise” to reverse his 2020 defeat.

State Senate Majority Leader Steve #Gooch said in an interview that #Republican leaders could hold legislative hearings into whether #Willis is using “her position in a political manner” after accusing #Trump & his allies of a complex #conspiracy.

Gooch also told The AJC that he sees #SenateBill92, a new #law that empowers a state panel to investigate & oust wayward prosecutors, as a powerful “tool in the toolbox” that Trump’s allies can deploy to delve into Willis’ use of public resources.

If the motions for removal of the #Georgia case are successful, the defendants would probably then argue in #FederalCourt that they should not be charged for state #crimes, (per) …the #SupremacyClause of the US Constitution, which says that fed #laws generally take precedence over state laws.

3 of the 19 defendants charged by #Willis were fed ofcls at the time…: #Trump, #Clark & #Meadows. Meadows filed a motion on Fri …to dismiss the charges against him, based on the Supremacy Clause.

Here, the statute may be triggered by violations of an array of federal #crimes as well as over 40 #charges specific to Georgia, including #forgery, false statements & influencing #witnesses.
