A couple of days at one of my favourite places before the weather turned. #wilsonsprom
School holidays are over - and we can enjoy empty beaches! This is Norman Beach at Wilsons Promontory in Victoria.

A pair of Yellow tailed black cockatoos coming in for a landing. There were others already feeding in this group of what I think are banksia trees beside the track we were walking on. Of course, when you go to Squeaky Beach at #WilsonsProm you make art with the white sand.

No showers, but I seem to remember #RefugeCove is good for a swim if the weather is warm enough
I’m not an expert, or indigenous myself, but I read when I was visiting last time that the #Aboriginal names for the prom are #Wamoom and #Yiruk.

Listen, I want to talk about muesli bars. Never a product category I have bought as an adult because I don’t hike or exercise and I don’t have kids.
But I do have #ADHD and this means I often forget to eat regular meals and then I’ll be ravenous at 4pm and I will eat “meal”: a single meal for the whole day.
Anyway, I recently went to #WilsonsProm and with much dismay accepted that there would be hiking, so I bought some muesli bars.
As a kid my favourite type was Uncle Toby’s ‘crunchy apricot’ which was very hard to the teeth, with gummy ‘apricot’ blobs. In the supermarket I was angered to see that the ‘chewy’ bars I found so repulsively soft have won the muesli-bar war and now the only ‘crunchy’ sort you can get are ‘crumbly’ dry dispiriting ones.
However, in the intervening years ‘protein bars’ were invented and this is now the texture I like. They have the to-the-teethness that I liked about crunchy bars, combined with a kind of sticky, oats-and-golden-syrup texture that reminds me of my grandmother’s Anzac biscuits.
Unlike ‘chewy’ muesli bars which fall apart when you bite them, like the dreams of a sad middle-aged man, protein bars offer heft to my angry teeth and succour to my neglected guts.
So. Anyway. Just wanted to express my new allegiance to protein bars.
