We had a client that added #Win11 to their domain, and suddenly started to get weird Insufficient Resource errors trying to access shared folders. Their AD is Server 2016 level. It's not an old domain. Spent hours trying to figure out, then came across this thread:

We had set all our client domains to Audit. Have not switched to Enforced yet (plan to gradually this week). But this domain never got set to Audit. Set the FullPac key to Audit - problem went away 🤔

so my start menu stopped working again. On a whim, I hit Windows + S to see if the search box thing would open. It didn't. But then I hit the windows key again, and the start menu works again now. Somehow. For some reason. Anyway yeah that's a thing.

Ich spiele schon länger mit dem Gedanken, auf Bitwig umzusteigen, da die DAW auch unter Linux läuft. Mein Ziel ist es, mich bis spätestens 2025 von Windows zu verabschieden. Bis dahin wird Win 10 noch von Microsoft unterstützt. Den Weg den man anscheinend mit Windows 11 gehen will, fast alles nur noch Microsoft Cloud, möchte ich nicht mitgehen.

#Linux box was busy encoding things this morning, so I brought my #Win11 laptop to work. They are identical education-spec low end laptops. (Found them on clearance for $99 last fall.)

Performance-wise, it took less than 10 minutes to remember why I prefer the Linux. They don’t have much memory, but the Win box struggles.

Seems like every other day a user wants to do something with #Win11 that should be simple to do.

Yet for some reason, the genius decisionmakers over at #Microsoft continually seem to make the #system incapable of the most basic things as if they're actively getting their #developers to waste time fighting against what users actually want.

Why anyone uses this #software or anything at all these days is beyond me when there are plenty of user-friendly alternatives out there.

I had to buy a new PC for #Win11, pretty close to what you described, and it hangs (not BSOD). It hangs 100% "reliably" if I watch #YouTube (but not on other streaming sites) and it occasionally shows some screen artifacts on OneNote and Outlook (yest, the other flagship @microsoft product)
Knowing what I know today, I would have stayed another year or two with my old PC, running #Win10

Everyone stand back and cross your fingers: I'm upgrading to #Windows11.

I would go for a Mac Mini in a heartbeat. #VMware Fusion - or even #Parallels - are decent hypervisors and run #Win11 #ARM really fast. But #Microsoft hasn’t released #Windows Server on ARM though many suspect they have it running in #Azure.
