The Appification of... everything... these days is IMO why OSes are so terrible now compared to the days of #Win7, #Mac OS Snow Leopard & #Ubuntu w/ Gnome -- the idea that the user is in control has gone out of the window. We will dictate the interface now and you will fall in line. Just look at the disaster of Ubuntu switching to Unity, damn the users and their complaints. Immediately Ubuntu lost seriousness in the eyes of users and a myriad of other distros popped up (#Linux Mint, for example)

If you use a Win OS below Win 10, Chrome nags you. Every single time. I'm testing a small website from VSCode and it's a PITA.

This registry key is a working STFU:-
HKEY_CURRENT\USER\Software\Policies\Google\Chrome\
Add a dword=1 called
SuppressUnsupportedOSWarning
And Chrome behaves next time it's started.

@roytam1 今日測試有效！ #Lubuntu 18.04 LTS 用的 #GRUB 已有編譯 #915resolution 模組但預設沒啟用，修改設定檔啟用即可見到 1440*900 的開機選單。然後直接進入使用 #微軟基本顯示卡 的 #Win10，便可以開出原先不支援的面板解析度… #GMA950 的原廠 #WDDM1 驅動在 1703 版本之後似乎相容性有問題， DWM.exe 占用率會莫名飆高到難以順暢播放影片的程度，換用基本顯示卡才算是比較正常。終於可以恢復用 #MPC-BE 看 #YouTube 720p 影片惹…（本來在 #Win7 可以靠硬解卡順播，換了 #Win10 反而變卡）

#Win7 上推送的 Edge Chromium 還蠻蠢的，安裝不需要系統管理權限可是 firstrun 要，沒有管理權限的帳戶點下去只會卡在 firstrun 畫面，無法進行下一步，所以根本無法開始使用… 😅

話說先前這組可以穩定運作的搭配在 #Win7 #EoL 改裝 #Win10 後有所變化：老舊無線網卡被系統認定為 #Ethernet 裝置，可以自動連上未加密的無線網路，但是叫不出 SSID 列表等無線網路必備功能。最近才找到資料，原來 #Win7 以後的微軟系統網路層拔除［模擬成 802.3 裝置的 802.11 裝置］的驅動程式支援，只支援原生的 802.11 裝置驅動程式。只能說老舊無線網卡終究是到了該淘汰的時候… 👽
