Download works in VirtualBox, but I can't increase the screen resolution.
Using https://bearwindows.zcm.com.au/vbe9x.htm, VirtualBox simply lets the VM crash, or Windows complains about invalid settings.

Guess what?
Download, no matter if Firefox or Internet Explorer, always gets stuck after a certain amount of MB. I have no idea why. I even get the Windows Bluescreen "System is busy". Wtf?

With the cirrus drivers, the picture sometimes "builds up" very slowly.
I honestly can't remember if this actually used to be that way...

Converting strings with APIs like WideCharToMultiByte() and MultiByteToWideChar() can use the flag CP_UTF8, bit it was only supported on #NT4 and #win98 but fails on Win95.
Many codebases (e.g. #openssl ) use the ANSI variants of #winapi and I tried to optimize it by standardized UTF-8 strings. It worked everywhere, except on the outdated Win95.
Now I know the reason ... better late than never.

Na wieczór, takie wspominki z dawnych czasów. Taka sytuacja. Wtedy, zastanawiałem się jeszcze "dlaczego" - potem przy okazji resetu longhorn'a, odpowiedzi oficjeli M$ wyprowadziły mnie z błędu jaką drogą użytkową podążał ten system w tamtym czasie.
