#Winchcombe is a small attractive Cotswold town in #Gloucestershire. Most of the time, nothing exciting happens, but on 28 February 2021 a meteorite landed there. No harm done, and fortunately some chunks of the meteorite were recovered quickly, and have now been studied.

Researchers now published in #Science Advances another evidence covering the theory, that the #water on #earth originates from #meteorite impacts. In this study, they analysed a meteorite found in #Winchcombe, which was recovered shortly after falling and therefore unchanged by the environment. Amongst other results, they found a similiar #hydrogen isotopic composition to that on earth.
