Not many people remember British Rail (and predecessors) running a small fleet of craft (Christened Swan, Swift, Tern and Teal if memory serves) between Ambleside, Bowness and Lakeside. I took this on Saturday just before all the thunderstorms hit, hence the dramatic sky! It's from the viewpoint of Biskey Howe, which is hidden away in the back streets of Bowness/Windermere so stays mercifully quiet, and gives this amazing view over the lake.

Today we took the chain ferry across #Windermere and made our way to #Grizedale for nature related walkings.
