Well I just nuked my #Windows11 system and installed #LinuxMint

The #Windows11 photo viewer the next/previous buttons on the side of the window. These buttons are very large vertically and extend to the top and bottom of the window, but that's not visible.

Well, putting my mouse in this position causes the "next" tooltip to cover the window close button. And yes, it ate my click.

I’ll give credit to #windows11 for adding multiple desktops. This has been a feature on MacOS for years and years. I didn’t really get it until I had it on my work computer. So often an e-mail request interrupts a project like document review. No more hunting for those windows again. I can just go back to the desktop I was using for document review.

Why does #Windows11 exist as a product? Nothing seems to be better than Windows 10. The task bar will still get stuck behind windows. The “Your Phone” app still doesn’t work. The Widgets are full of suspect “news” stories and ads. This should have been a free update. Windows now remember which screen it should use to open an app, so at least there’s that.

Press F11 to switch File Explorer to full-screen mode and then exit full-screen mode again by pressing F11 again. This causes File Explorer to immediately load the folder contents and also immediately display the thumbnail previews for files. The search function in File Explorer also reacts faster and is snappier

i can't believe i am saying this but while sloppy in UI/UX, and confusing af in many areas, #Windows11 is absolutely the most secure operating system to leave redmond. i had no idea how comprehensive the changes have been since the #Windows7-era.

so far my installation on #steamDeck is going well. i think #baldursgate3 is actually improved over #SteamOS.

text rendering in Windows is nicer to read than SteamOS at the OS and extending into big picture. Controller Configuration isn't great yet.

It's been a week since reinstalling
@opensuse #openSUSE #Leap on my #ThinkPad with a Seventh Gen #Intel i7 Pro. While it crawled with both #Windows #Windows11 and #Windows10, there has been NO lag at all after installing #Linux. I just tried running @whonix on it while plugged into a #Thunderbolt dock hooked up to an ultrawide monitor, and it was as snappy as ever.

Windows #OperatingSystem bloat is real, and if you've got old hardware, the speed issues are probably due to your #OS.

#Windows11 is such a mixed bag. #OneNote no longer has a default option to paste plain text and Microsoft still hasn’t implemented Ctrl-Shift-V. Microsoft is 20 years behind Apple and Linux with this.
