Don't know what to do today so I decided to boot #Windows98 on my 1st gen i3 laptop.

Laptop is Dell Inspiron N4030 (i3-380M, 2GB RAM, iGPU)

This is a quite long video and it's two years old, but it's worth it. It explains how the stuff people hate in modern #Windows has its roots all the way back in #WindowsXP, despite it being beloved by many as one of the best OS'es ever made. Stick until the very end to get the answer to solving all these issues.

A ešte jeden tip pre bláznov, ktorí sa radi hrajú s #retropc. Moja mašina má absolútne prestrelenú kapacitu RAM, v tomto prípade 1GB. To je maximum, ktoré dokáže #Windows98 pojmúť bez toho, aby vôbec zlyhala jeho inštalácia (s chybou nedostatku pamäte 🤷‍♂️). Problém nastal po inštalácii. Nevedel som z prostredia Windows spustiť žiaden DOS program. Chyba znela "There is not enough memory available to run this program" 🤦‍♂️ Pomoc pomerne jednoduchá, na #vogons je návod: https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?p=1091306#p1091306

Poznáte skvelý program #CloneZilla na prácu s diskami? V poslednej dobe som ho opakovane použil nie len u moderného PC (klonovanie starého SSD na nový), ale aj u #retropc, na ktorý som nedávno inštaloval #Windows98. Tento systém nepredbieha povesť veľmi stabilného OS, a môžem potvrdiť, že toto sedí aj dnes, 25 rokov po jeho vydaní. Spomínaná #CloneZilla mi tak zálohou systémovej partície ušetrila kopec nervov, ktoré by inak skončili v kýbli po tom, čo ma komp po nejakej krpe obšťastnil BSOD...

It's because I'm cursed... just kidding. I'm using Devuan and not using systemd where every other software in the world depends on systemd gives you problems. Who would have thought?

Anyway, copied the file into the guest directly. Still doesn't explain why a download freezes the system. meh.

@danirabbit accessibility? I'd expect color blindness-related settings as well as high contrast to show up under that name. Although, of these two, appearance?

But I'd say it should be okay as far as it makes sense, is consistent and is documented somehow (...but this comment isn't something I put research effort into, so it might be too subjective or of little or no use. And I'm probably influenced by what I remember from Accessibility and Display under #Windows98 )
