I gave my #wineclub a Rioja Blanco this past month since I think the wines will continue to trend up but also wanted to give them an older school style to try too. CVNE Monopole is blended with 15% dry sherry, so it acted as an intro to dry sherry of sorts. I really like sherry. A lot of #wine folks do too, or at least appreciate it. A lot of folks outside of wine don't really like, despite the industry's repeated efforts.

I knew this wine would be polarizing, and it was! It is not a wine to sip while watching tv...it needs food. Last night, I grilled grouper over a bed of anise fronds and sliced Meyer lemon with a sprinkling of olive oil, dry vermouth and dukkah. Served with an anise, clementine and arugula salad. Lots of complementary flavors with the food and wine. Also had it NYE with a tapas-type menu -- nuts, hard cheeses, charcuterie, conserva, smoked and steamed fish.

I run a local monthly #wineclub with over 100 members. The December drop includes:

CVNE Monopole Clasico Rioja Blanco, 2018. Rioja blanco is getting more notoriety lately so I wanted to let folks try something more traditional.

Cave Geisse Brut Metodo Tradicional, 2029. Everyone in the club gets a Brazilian for the holidays! Wine, Brazilian wine.

Donatella Cinelli Colombini Rosso di Montalcino, 2019. I really thought her Brunello was one of the better ones of the 50 I tried at the recent Benvenuto Brunello event in NYC, so gave the club a less expensive but still very good alternative.

The club sprung up from community virtual #wine events I was doing during the height of the pandemic to keep people connected and raise money and awareness for a different community group every month. The largest one had 600 participants with 60 cases of wine going out in one day.

One of my favorite #wines of the year. Ive been a fan of #twoshepherds but had not tried this previously and tasted it at RAW in New York back in the spring. It resonated with me immediately. Once available, I grabbed some as a special offer for my #wineclub so I could grab some for me. Admittedly #pinotmeunier is one of the grapes I nerd over but this is just a really good #wine.
