There was a significant amount of snowfall last night. The river Leasgeary almost unrecognisable from the village this morning.

The roads in the village are clear enough but those outside the main routes are impassible in places and treacherous in others where they have not been ploughed. Reports of a number of cars off the road.

It was a beautiful winter morning here in Verdun. Three-quarters if an inch of powdery white snow covering everything. Only a few tire tracks in the streets, and the streets hadn’t yet turned to slush and salt.

Pale blue grey peeps
Through the gaps in the city.
The other side still dark,
little is revealed of the waking life.
Every morning now
The light a little stronger
As I venture out too early
To start the daily trek,
