Now comes a very quick thaw and floods off the mountain right past my side door to the Ohio River.

Making matters worse, after the last few years we've had, the ground is not prepared for flash snowmelt flooding.

That's what is scary.

The heat pump decided to run on auxiliary heat for part of the night, so I'm dreading the electric bill when it arrives. Despite all precautions, several pipes froze.
