#TIL that Finnish broadcaster #YLE, about 10 years ago, made a film about Field Marshal Mannerheim, the main commander during the #WinterWar against #Russia. Shouldn't be a problem right? #Mannerheim is a widely respected war hero in #Finland.
But for some reason they decided to do a bit of "historical revisionism" and film it in #Kenya and have a Kenyan actor play Mannerheim. For obvious reasons both Kenyans and Finns were not amused to put it lightly 🤪

#TodayInHistory The Battle of Raate Road ends in a massive defeat for the Red Army,during the Winter War in 1940, against the much smaller Finnish army, in what was a classic David vs Goliath scenario.

It was the Soviet Union's own Vietnam, where a much smaller, under prepared, under armed opponent, managed to hold it's own, and even rout them in some key battles.
