Brilliant exhibition of Alexander Calder kinetic sculptures, wire works and paintings at Serralves in Porto.

Calder's work is shown together with some by his great friend Joan Miro.

I've never seen his wirework pieces before. How the viewers movement changes their form is... wonderfully cubist.

This one dates from 1929.

@BITPRINT Thanks & I hear you! Defining intervals for dipping the brush based on element count seems to work well enough for pointillism, but the tools can also support strokes of different lengths, and re-segmenting them based on max. draw distance (per stroke). I've also just added some new code for defining models of linear or radial-layout paint palettes and so make it even easier to code this brush-refill logic by just saying use palette slot N (maybe also combining with brush cleaning/drying). This too works pretty well, but obviously a (slow) ongoing process and still lots of refinements planned/coming! :)

Re: drawing with 3D printers: Oh, I've been doing this myself for while (see pics from 2017) and I shall return to this later this year. The drawing commands used by https://thi.ng/axidraw are all informed by this earlier work and purposefully abstracted enough to be also usable with other devices and command flavors/machines (e.g. G-Code based), so should be very easy to adapt with the older tooling for the Ultimaker etc.

(Btw. that Type-A Series 1 3D printer from the pics might still be in possession of the LDN Hackspace — we donated it to @jonty a few years ago...)

Back in the 1980s I loved wireframe 3D games like "Elite", "Mercenary" and "Arcticfox" ...

In this classic, often underrated and mostly forgotten #Wireframe #3D game from 1986 (released by #FirebirdSoftware) the scenario is this:

Following a nuclear war, humanity is trapped underground by a robot defence system that rules the irradiated surface.

Your job: explore the city using a remote controlled robot and take over stronger robots in order to complete the mission (which is to free the survivors from their underground bunkers).

I just found the wonderful 2005 remake (and enhancement) of this game by "Ovine by Design", all with nice atmospheric music.

Advantage of doing this on app vs paper, is that it's easier to fix mistakes, and share online. Here a small fix to my previous version. The text on top didn't make any sense :)

I can see how people might think that desktop, or paper/tablet drawing are always better, but in some use cases, liks this morning, TinyUX is the only option.

What is your preferred way to #wireframe designs? I'm a big fan of Code & Quill notebooks as a first step. I draw the wireframe on the left and number the elements, then write out specs on the right with the tabs.
