Brilliant exhibition of Alexander Calder kinetic sculptures, wire works and paintings at Serralves in Porto.

Calder's work is shown together with some by his great friend Joan Miro.

I've never seen his wirework pieces before. How the viewers movement changes their form is... wonderfully cubist.

This one dates from 1929.

Okay, I finished making it. I like how it looks, however it is a little bit not how I initially envisioned it.
Middle dangle is not centered with the one on the chain , and hare "belly" is touching the spirals.

So now, while I rest a bit before transporting the food, I'm again thinking about the flat round beads. I got some superglue with a precision tip from the supermarket (brand name, but I think it does take a while to set - I probably should've gotten a quick-set one from a hardware store or tried to get precision-tip E6000 but oh well) but I still can't think of a good way to do the chain links so they'll be a bit more solid.

I'm thinking something like a figure 8, but with only one strand of wire passing through the stone, and then the two free ends passing behind it and secured with glue. And doing a few twists either side to form the link I guess?

My making actually began with .

It’s a way of making things stick together with the use of pro quality craft wire, with beads usually made of glass, metal and stone.

These earrings pictured are some of the things I’ve made. I’ve got more of an artisan style so I’m not everyone’s cuppa, but that’s okay :) I like being a bit different. Hopefully my patrons do, too.
