Lots of us have Railway Workers in our family tree. Hadlow Road Station has been restored back to how it looked on the day it closed in 1956. Fascinating and there is a cafe! It was on the old Birkenhead Railway which is now a great cycle route along the Dee estuary.

Lovely route though, and still excellent fun. Chippy stop at Parkgate and the bike-powered gig at #FutureYard was great.

Superb group #InTheSaddle #FolkRidingBikes this evening.

We caught the ferry over to Seacombe; had a brief stop at the Ferry inn while waiting for stragglers; then a ride round the Wirral coast to West Kirby.

Pizza and a pint at the West Kirby Tap; then a ride back all the way to Liverpool.

There was one other person in the Mersey Tunnel when we rode through it - the policeman escorting us (it's closed to cars while they're upgrading the lighting)

I was very surprised to see three red-eared terrapins basking in the sun today in The Wirral!

They are a non-native species to the UK. Sightings began in the 1980s, leading to speculation that they were unwanted pets, bought following the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle craze

Although not known to breed in the wild, rising temperatures may allow them to breed and their populations to grow, posing significant threats to native birds and insects

That was a good Friday.
