Second go playing Witcher Old World. With a break for some food, it took 3 and a half hours and we where lost and confused more than a few times about having done a thing or not. It clearly plays faster on repeated plays.
Fun was had, and now we tried the full PvP action as well, and I won on a combination of fighting witchers, monsters and meditating.
It looks pretty, have story elements and pretty miniatures, so it's a hit in our family!

Having crunched the numbers a bit, and talked about it, I think the Witcher Old World game can be played quite a lot faster than we did.

There are turns who can overlap, like Phase III and Phase I of the next player. Also if you keep playing to your plan and not rush off to resolve every quest you encounter, that will probably make the game flow faster.

Witcher The Old World has arrived, so it's boardgame time. There are hundreds and hundreds of cards! It's going to take ages to sleeve them all. Also, there are quite a few detailed minis, and a chunky rulebook.

There are some complexities, but also some cool stories coming from the exploration and event cards. This will take a while to master.
