I've added thumbnail display to wdlocator: https://wdlocator.toolforge.org/#map=17/-37.81287/144.96918 #wmhack
This was through a fog of a post-Wikimania cold, so I don't know what bugs I've added. 🤒
Besides #freeculture, both #wikimania & @c3lounge are obsessed with #waffles with waffle group base traditions.
For #Wikimania2023 #wmhack it's the Association of #Stroopwafel Addicts.

WikidataLocator now selects all matching features when any single feature is selected https://wdlocator.toolforge.org/#map=18/-32.05533/115.74894
I think this is going to be annoying, and there now needs to be a way to cycle between all of a feature's possible Wikidata items.
TODAY is the start of #wikimania, August 16-19th both in #Singapore & virtually online!

A thing I'm calling wdlocator is sort of working now: https://wdlocator.toolforge.org/#map=18/-32.05487/115.74482 #wmhack
(I'm not really taking part in #wmhack but am hacking and am at #Wikimania.)
I've got #OpenStreetMap and #Wikidata sort of displaying okay and more importantly caching lots to hopefully not run too many Overpass or WDQS queries.

You know the conference #wikimania is rightly named when you're up at 4 AM local time to watch the opening of the Hackathon #wmhack
Well, I drank some beer, wrote some code, thought of a name, and uploaded some hacky stuff to gitlab... but I can't be bothered wrestling with CI now, so am giving up for the night. #wmhack
First step for a #wmhack project is to think of a name and make a repo isn't it? Not write code, oh no, not that. Maybe a logo, first of all...
The Twelfth #DCG201 #HackerSummerCamp 2023 is LIVE featuring #Wikimania2023 virtually and in-person at #Singapore!

(yes it's technically June here already but I wrote the majority of this in May so I backdated it by a few hours and therefore didn't miss publishing a blog post last month)
another negative test today – if I’d caught covid at #WMHack then it ought to have shown up by now, I think. I’ll probably do another test on Saturday or so to check for infections on the way back (I wore a mask on the trains but not in the sleeper carriage)
on the way back home…it was wonderful to meet so many - in person - at the Hackathon in Athens! #wmhack
Really enjoyed meeting you all in Athens, can't wait for the next hackathon! #wmhack
When presenting my hackathon achievements at #wmhack, I accidentally said that we’d added a command palette to VisualEditor that appears when you press backspace. I regret to announce that, despite it being far less chaotic, this actually happens when you press *backslash*.
