I've observed that the media profession has never been easy for Melissa Harris-Perry, current host of The Takeaway radio program, but apparently her push to exit management to join the union her staff belonged to drove upper management to just cancel the damn thing.

Not that the situation with the death of her husband during that time helped any, and according to this Hell Gate report, she was her usual blunt self about that.

BTW, the resurgence of Connie Converse's music began in 2004 when my former colleague David Garland played her songs on the air for the first time in decades. More music was found and aired in 2009 and 2012. I remember all of those broadcasts and I still think they're among the coolest things we have ever done during my time at #WNYC.

WNYC had a whole call-in segment for people to share their Bed Bath and Beyond memories. Why exactly did it rub me the wrong way? Maybe because it’s another example of the way we perceive ourselves as customers rather than souls? Good luck getting people to try masto! If more people give it time, get used to it, and embrace that they’re part of creating a community here I think they’d really enjoy it.

Sadly, WNYC (where I work) announced tonight that they will not be leaving Twitter. I hoped that we would stand in solidarity with our public media colleagues who have already left, but I understand the desire to not abandon what is still a big audience.

The statement doesn't mention if the company will establish a presence here. I will keep encouraging the company and individual colleagues to give Mastodon a try whenever I see an opening. Wish me luck!
