Took my #nonverbal #autistic teen to the doctor for a physical today where she received compassionate care and consent was honored. It grieves me that this type of care is so scarce especially for #POC, #WOC, #Indigenouspeoples, #LGBTQIA+, and disabled populations among us. #universalheathcareforall

There is something dehumanizing in how white people assume my parents lives were harder than mine. They presume to know both of our inner and outer lives without knowing anything at all. Inherent in the hijacking of our existence are presumptions that my parents were born in another country, don't speak English well, aren't educated, grew up in poverty and possibly faced far greater racism than I did. None of this is true. Once white people place you in a box, they let you suffocate in it. #WOC
