Im Jahr 1768 Verbot Louisiana freien women of color ihr Haar offen zu tragen. (wer's nachlesen möchte tignon law). Das kam zustande weil sich die hellhäutigen Frauen durch die Schönheit dieser Frauen bedroht gefühlt haben, weil sie ihre Haare als Zeichen ihrer Freiheit in atemberaubenden Frisuren zur Schau stellen. (Im Jahr 1800 gab es 1500 freie PoC in New Orleans)
