Speaking of #WomenInSport #PlayLikeAGirl the hot topic at the moment.
The Sydney Sirens who play in the #AWIHL which is THE top level Ice Hockey competition in Australia, don't get anywhere near as much sponsorship as the men. To the point the players themselves usually pay for all of their own equipment, ice time, travel & accommodation out of their own pockets.
This season is going to be expanded to a full home & away comp, which puts even more stress on the players own wallets.
If you or a business you know are interested in sponsoring players or a team and helping out in women's sports, you can get more info here. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TBPBSR5
The season runs from late October through until the start of March. There's a few hundred people who attend every home game at Macquarie Ice rink PLUS every single game is broadcast on https://cluch.tv/ and available to anyone with an account (no paid sub required).
As well as volunteering with them (and hopefully doing rink announcing) I'll be throwing $500 in with a group who like to pool money towards player sponsorships. #SoundTheSiren #RefuseToLose

"Women need to pick the fights and tell us men what to do"
"Equal pay doesn't solve anything"
"I have daughters so I understand"
This is what #patriarchy looks like. 👿
Here you go #Infantino, I fixed it for you:
"Men should take accountability for solving the hugely unfair problem that they created"
"Equal pay doesn't fix everything but it's a start and it's the least we can do"
"Gender equality is a responsibility we all share"

Oh, and if soccer is now your thing the #ALeague #ALeagueW season will kick off over summer too and you'll find it here when announced https://keepup.com.au/a-league-women/fixtures/
I've almost always found #ALeagueW more entertaining than #ALeagueM. Less frustrating to watch, more positive play style. #WomenInSport #PlayLikeAGirl

Every single podcast in my feed this morning is on the #Matildas #FIFAWWC .
How good is this for #WomenInSport #PlayLikeAGirl ?
I absolutely love the way people are discovering women's sport is actually good. If I follow a sport it's generally both men's & women's teams. Not always but mostly.
It'd be great to see larger crowds at the women's matches! Especially the #SuperW Rugby Union and #AWIHL Ice Hockey (starting late October).
