Researching today for my actual job, the one that pays my bills.* Returning to the rich source that is the Voiceprint radio show episode on Women's Language and Literature from 1981.

ualberta.aviaryplatform.com/co

I can't get over how this old show took on the issue of editing, , & - not in exactly these terms, bc they didn't have this language yet.

*Sort of. It's contract, very part-time.

This leaves me with just my own to the whole special issue.

Abstract
This introduction to the MLO special issue “Minoritised Languages and Travel” provides an overview of the pieces in this collection in context with historical travel accounts in German about nineteenth-century Wales.

Happy reading, y'alls. (For convenience, I will later post the link to the complete bundle.)

Completely shocked and utterly honoured to have found out that my book, The Lady’s Magazine and the Making of Literary History (Edinburgh University Press, 2022) has won The Robert and Vineta Colby Scholarly book prize awarded annually by the Research Society for Victorian Periodicals.

This is one goes out to anyone who has a title on their CV labelled "forthcoming". I feel you.

For this year's I have received unofficial word that I can add a forthcoming title to my publication list of edited works. Country Landlords by Louisa Matilda Spooner is on course for publication in 2026. Until then, give me strength (I wouldn't say no to €-cents) for every single, inevitable occasion when I will see the novel misattributed to Anne Beale.

Mary Shelley was 21 when she published her novel ‘Frankenstein’. Her mother was the philosopher and women's rights advocate Mary Wollstonecraft, author of 'A Vindication of the Rights of Women'. Her father was the political philosopher William Godwin. Wollstonecraft died of puerperal fever shortly after Mary was born and Godwin was left to bring up Mary, along with her older half-sister, Fanny Imlay.

The following years saw write his masterpiece "Gulliver's Travels" and the remarkable and still shocking "A Modest Proposal" bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00h3650

And a host of other pamphlets, poems and sermons.

Swift made enemies but also many friends, including a coterie of literary women whom he encouraged and supported, and who defended him in return after his death.

@aga_tumilowicz Have you read anything by Alix Harrow, yet? Her "The Once and Future Witches" is BRILLIANT, and I keep hearing wonderful things about her other works, as well.

Hello everyone! I am an academic editor and proofreader based in Suffolk, and I'll be sharing lots of bookish things.

Alongside the day job, I write about eighteenth-century women authors and their posthumous reputations.

And when I need to escape, I run off into the countryside with my border collie Benji.
