God I love woodburning, brings back memories of campfires, always smells really nice.

Done on a chunk of (I think) poplar I had sitting in the project bucket.
Only burned myself twice this time.

So woodburning this variety of watercolor cardstock with a calligraphy nib gave this polished glossy surface that really surprised me!

The paper buckling is an issue, might have to look into getting an A3 size press to flatten prints if I'm going to do this regularly.

I'm going to have to look at or maybe @toxi 's library for pen plotting and see if I can tie speed and shading somehow.

A woodburning tool can do half tones and gradients where a laser is essentially pointillist.

A lot more control is possible, I just haven't hacked it together yet. Really excited!

Hacking away at my queue today, so in the meantime, I'll share more woodburning! Here are a pair of wolves with burl noses, mostly as practice on larger slices of sassafras wood.

I've mostly been holding onto my larger pieces like these to see if any cracks develop where I screwed in the eyelets. So far, only one has been affected (and that one was on -very- porous wood).

Don't fall for big petrochem propaganda. Some people insist that burning wood is worse than burning coal, natural gas or LPG. FACT is that those 3 have been trapped underground for millions of years, and releasing their CO² share is grossing its level considerably.

Of course it's not about burning millenary trees, but cultivated wood or bamboo are less polluting than hydrocarbons. If you are still in doubt just think about the game of words between fuels and biofuels.

Just clarifying because you bet that if fossil fuels were edible big oil would be lobbying against the meat industry no doubt about it
