3 years ago, a friend of mine built a stand for my sand collection on his wood lathe.
Using my plans, he jointed 2 pieces of different woods and turned this flying saucer-shaped stand on 2 levels with a wonderful result.

Il y a 3 ans, un ami a réalisé pour moi, au tour à bois, un support pour ma petite collection de sables.
Sur mes plans, il a assemblé 2 bois et tourné cette soucoupe-support à deux niveaux, au magnifique rendu.

A few months ago I had an idea to make a #wand that incorporated the pommel design of Narsil/Anduril from The Lord of the Rings. So I 3D-modeled it, printed it at the scale I wanted, and cast it in #pewter. Then I lost steam on the project, and finally finished it this weekend. The wood is bocote that I turned on my #WoodLathe
I really like how it turned out. I had originally wanted to make it a lot more complex, with more design elements from the sword, but I now think simpler works best.

I bought a used #WoodLathe a little while ago, and have slowly been learning my way around it. My biggest learning curve is in regards to sharpening my tools. Still haven't quite mastered that part, but I think I made a nice little Christmas ornament yesterday.
