Thirteen years ago to the day a group of friends gathered in Patagonia to bird the wonderful species found in southern Arizona in early spring. Interestingly enough, these were friends I'd met though twitter, back when it was actually a social media site, not whatever the hell it turned into.

Here are two pictures taken today. The first a Red Bellied Woodpecker. Never figured that one out since their belly's are not red.
The Second a Pileated leaping from branch to branch. Both taken in a tree in our back yard that was damaged by hurricane Ian.

I'm no photographer, but today is #WoodpeckerWednesday so I am sharing this pic I took the other day.
We actually have 4 woodpeckers that we regularly see: 1 M Nuttall's, 1 M Ladder-backed, 1 F Nuttall's, & 1 F Ladder-backed. They both seem to be "mixed-race" pairs (MN w FL & ML w FN).
