Some fractal burn kitchenware, finished with mineral oil and beeswax. I turned the bowls from some donated ash logs, and the spoons were created from free leftovers wooden utensils from a yard sale. #WoodTurning #FractalArt #Woodworking #Craft #Upcycle

thanks for posting this - I had never heard of Kakishibu but it sounds like an interesting method. I just went down a rabbit hole of information on fermented persimmon juice. I like poplar once it ages past the green stage but in my experience that can take years.
Here's a platter I turned last Nov - and it's still very green (finished with varnish oil)

Collaborating with my amazing wife on some stools. This is the first iteration (roughed out, not close to finished). Sugar maple seat, walnut legs, the cover is punch needle, inspired by petri dish mold.
I’m using a 80’s craftsman lathe for the legs. I have very little turning experience.
Feedback and criticism is more than welcome.

Bowl of the day (probably) Beech in my current favourite shape. I say probably as it's very 'patterned' for normal beech but I can't match it to any other wood. #WoodTurning
Quick bowl of the day; Lime (needs more finishing but was a 20 minute bowl today) #WoodTurning
Today's 'break bowl' Cherry (on top of my Purpleheart one which is still getting purpler)! #WoodTurning
It was mentioned I should post a #woodturning post. I haven't gotten into the shop recently but here's an oldie!
Here is a pen I made a little while ago when I was getting the hang of it. It's a simple pen made with a simple pen kit and a sapele wood blank.
The bushings were a little oversized so the center ring is a little undersized compared to the tubes.
The CA finish came out perfect though.
Gave this one to my mother to carry with her.
WIP: Cherry bowl, still need to finish it fully to be rid of the remaining lines #WoodTurning Lots more sanding & waxing in this bowl's future!
Long overdue #introduction post.

Bowl of the day - Bubunga wood, looks lovely but is a total PITA to turn. Random grain opens up seemingly at random and it chips if you breathe on it wrong during turning. #WoodTurning
Maple vase/jar/vessel? Whatever it is, it's approx. 5" x 5" and finished with tung oil. Started out a lot bigger but it cracked while it was drying. Still a bit of a crack but it shouldn't get any bigger (at least I hope not!). #woodworking #woodturning
Today a wawa (no really) bowl. Super light wood and easy to turn but a) kinda smelly and b) kinda yellow. I hope it lightens up. #WoodTurning
Butternut bowl finished with linseed oil. Approx. 3.5" high x 5" diameter. Never worked with butternut before but I can't wait to get my hands on more of it. Really nice to work with and a wonderful color and grain. It looks kinda like a little flower pot. #woodworking #woodturning
