No shade to Hutcherson, but Shaw's trumpet allows so much more brightness to pop through and accent unexpected notes. #jazz #trumpet

#NowPlaying an astonishingly good live album. One of my favourites. Even better if you can get hold of Shaw's Complete Columbia Albums Collection, which includes the rest of the show as a bonus disc.
An absolute master of his instrument; a true virtuoso who died way too young.
