More clean fiber for the storage bin

- 6.24oz of Suffolk Wool (started with 9.6oz = 65% yield)
- 12.48oz of Jacob Wool (started with 16oz = 78% yield)

+ A batch of Jacob Wool that's been drying for ages @_@ hopefully it'll be ready to weigh out tomorrow - I need the drying space so I can get more wool washed!

Last batch of Jacob wool before I switch to the Suffolk.

Soak, wash, rinse twice is the the magic number. While I'm still not thrilled with the texture (it didn't "poof" at all, and overall it feels very dense), I am grateful that there's so little lanolin that it doesn't take much to get clean.

I was originally gonna make a sweater vest with this wool, but now I'm thinking maybe a blanket? Or I'll card it and try to sell it 😂

And to finish up my Big Fiber Day: I labeled and stored my clean wool. Unfortunately it's going to have to sit in storage until I get my hands on a drum carder.

We got:
- 12oz of Lincoln cross (started with 18oz = 66.67% yield)
- 5.89oz of Jacob (started with 8oz = 73.6% yield)
- 20g bags of Alpaca/Lincoln blends for test swatching (80/20, 70/30, 60/40, and 50/50)

8lbs of Suffolk wool to add to the stash!

I'm really excited for this one - the staple length is only about 2in, but it's really springy and fluffy with lots of stretch. I can already tell it's going to be really lovely to work with.

Overnight soak, 1 wash, and 2 rinses for this 1lb batch of Jacob's wool.

The overnight soak worked wonders! The water was absolutely filthy, but after one wash it was running clear.

This wool seems to be really light on lanolin, so washing it has been a breeze.

As for the texture, it's ... Meh. I'm really not excited about it. I'm hopeful it'll surprise me while spinning, though.

3 washes and 2 rinses for this 1/2 lb of Jacob's wool.

I could've gotten away with 1 wash and 2 rinses, honestly - it wasn't as lanolin-rich as the Lincoln cross I washed earlier this week.

Oh well, you love and you learn. And now I know to save myself time on the next batch!

One wash, two rinses - it's still got some dirt on the tips, so I think I'll pick out the cleanest pieces and put the rest back in for another round.

Also - this is only 1lb of wool, and it's completely taken over my kitchen table?? It looked like a lot less when it was all bagged up, haha!

🎵 Baa, baa, black sheep,
Have you any wool? 🎵

Sorting took me literally 5 hours, but now I have two bags of white wool, one bag of black, and a little bag of mixed colors that wouldn't separate.
