It might be from one person or group to another, or it might be across time, but if you fail to convey what you set out to, then your #WordChoice or #phrasing hindered your effective #communication, and thus reduced the effectiveness of what you originally set out to do by communicating in the first place.

Different situations call for different language styles. A dinner conversation is not a court hearing.

"Her hand landed on his shoulder."

Did it fall from the sky, maybe?

"Her hand touched his shoulder."

Saw this lovely quote on Tumblr & had to laugh. I got hung up on "prettily" for about a week. Have managed to edit out all but one usage in my WIP (where I refer to a woman's dark red hair). 😄
