Fran Drescher, SAGAFTRA President, in a video clip worth watching

"'At some point you have to say no more,' Drescher, the former 'Nanny' star who is now president of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, said in an interview at the union’s headquarters Wednesday. 'I think that it’s taken on a bigger scope, it’s greater than the sum of its parts. I think it’s a conversation now about the culture of big business, and how it treats everybody up and down the ladder in the name of profit.'"

I've been impressed every time I've seen her interviewed. She seems to be the perfect person to lead SAGAFTRA at this moment. This isn't a strike just for actors, but really for all workers in all industries.

Another WTF: In and Out Burgers is banning Covid face masks for employees in 5 western states.

Why? Because it's more important for customers to see their smiling faces than to allow them to protect themselves, each other, and customers from infection. Of course, it remains to be seen how often they will smile under these conditions.

CA & OR employees are exempt, thanks to workplace safety laws. However, those who choose to mask up, will be forced to wear company issued N-95s. (Perhaps with smiling cartoon faces printed on them, below the company's yellow arrow logo).

The beatings will continue until morale improves!

Whenever I see the term "working class", I first think "a Marxist" with an eyeroll & then on all the tap dances of "well aren't you or can't you show class unity with us." Then seeing the vast majority of the people in question absolutely mean that my needs won't be included & therefore I'm not "with them".

It isn't to say I don't want conditions for those with paid employment to improve, I do vastly, but I see how the heirarchy is, disabled workers get the least voice & least benefit whenever pushes for change occur & if I partake in any revolution or evolution - I need to see it's goals to include greater equity for disabled people who are & are not parts of the working class. It's also a matter of my wanting this notion of "earn a living" to end, as it's a mainstay of why poor people, disabled & ableds alike, are used to work farm - so that suffering at the hands of those who work in these bureocracies gives said struggling people "value" in said backwards society we now have.
