And this is why you always weigh yourself after picking up a heavy load. I'm overweight on the drives, trailer, and overall gross. Looks like I'm going back to shipper tomorrow to have it fixed.

Woohoo! Wheel seal went out so we're fixing that and giving it new brakes since the old shoes are halfway done anyway and completely soaked with oil. That's all in addition to the other buses that have to be serviced and test drove before the evening bus run.

Two broken bolts in the head for the exhaust manifold have lead to a screaming bus, ruptured manifold gasket and a whole lot of headache. Took some doing but finally got them out. Now to just put everything back together.

This one is getting new front brakes. Just waiting on the drums to arrive from the store.

Strapping down a load into a 53ft flat bed and then having to tarp it while it is 13°f and dark ain't fun. But I got it done. At least it isn't windy so no wind chill and no having to fight to keep the tarps on until they have a few straps. If wind grabs one of those they essentially turn into a sail. I had it happen once while it was in my hands and I actually got lifted up off the deck of the trailer.

What do you think is more balanced, working 4 to 7 with morning and night shifts or 5 to 7 with only morning shifts? #workforaliving
For those of you who might be be curious when I talk about stuff like my weekly 70hr clock #truckers don't run on a 40hr work week. We run on a 70hr work week. Every day we get access to 14hrs of that 70hrs 11 of which we are allowed to drive. At the end of the day any time we have used is taken off our 70 and we have to park for 10hrs minimum. Once we use up that 70hrs we have to park for at least 34hrs to get it all back. #logistics #transportaion #workforaliving

Scooted my tool box forward a bit the other day because my tarps kept rubbing the back of the truck cab. It was fine with a flatbed but since I'm pretty sure the van trailers come a bit further forward I was worried there might be a clearance issue when making tight turns. But it clears no problem so I'm good to go. #trucking #transportaion #logistics #workforaliving

Getting ready to take off for the day. Just got done checking all my straps and like I thought they all needed to be tightned a little. That's normal for a flatbed load. For the first couple hundred miles or so the load will pack in and settle. So you gotta stop and tighten things back down.

5:30am, still dark, and actively snowing. Perfect time to be out unloading a flatbed. #trucking, #workforaliving.
