Preparing for a short work week (Yay!) and reviewing my scheduled meetings. The calendar's "Travel time" option made me giggle because "1-2 minutes" isn't a standard selection. Not much travel time when you're working from home. 😂 😂

A drawback to #WorkingFromHome is that I have completely lost touch with my values for "appropriate in public".

Me: Am I... is this ok? It's gym shorts but they're *clean* gym shorts... this tshirt was clean this morning but I got some juice on it... it's only 7-11 and it's dark out... should I put real shorts on? Am I overthinking this? Where are my actual shoes?

Research on #workingfromhome & returning to the office (carried out in the US & reported via LinkedIn) suggests for most #workers, a request to return to the office encourages more hybrid working, while a formal requirement to limit (or end) WFH prompts a significant rise in workers' dissatisfaction & likelihood to look for a new job.

The research also includes the nugget that #managers now admit ending of WFH was based on 'feeling' not data!

Conclusion: workers like flexibility & autonomy!

Here's some interesting research from The Work Foundation looking at #hybridworking & what its advantages & disadvantages are for the differently abled.

While in some ways it can enhance the contribution those with ability-based constraints can make to the workplace... there is also a fear that as the return to the office continues & #workingfromhome becomes less wide-spread, #disabled #workers may miss out on new opportunities by being coded as or allocated to #WFH.

#workingfromhome is most popular in the Anglo-Saxon #capitalist countries - US/UK/Canada - and less so in the EU...

Perhaps this is linked to the toxicity of English-speaking #managers, who the #WFH are seeking to distance themselves from, or issues of transport & #childcare.

WFH however welcome, may also have some unwelcome impacts around #innovation & interpersonal engagement.

So #Zoom has told employees who live within 50 miles of their office that they must be in the office at least two days a week.

You might suppose that Zoom would be fully committed to the #workingfromhome #videoconferencing interface for #workers?

But perhaps, pragmatically recognising their #technology doesn't solve *all* office communication issues, like other firms they've decided those water cooler, shared-lunch moments do help the team.

As #workingfromhome becomes her more normalised, at the edges the #workcation has become a thing; doing your work, for a protracted period from somewhere you might normally only go for a #holiday...

Of course, as I have pointed out before, the danger for some will be that if you can do you work from anywhere, someone from anywhere can do your job....

And as pointed out by @fkamiah17 today, the technology facilitating this is an #energy problem; those desert server farms are a green nightmare
