#WorkingMothers have two full-time jobs, but only one is seen by official US statistics https://www.marketwatch.com/story/millions-of-working-parents-especially-women-are-unpaid-caregivers-why-doesnt-government-data-account-for-their-labor-11674676992?mod=personal-finance
Taking care of children or the elderly allows the rest of the population to work. But only paid care is considered as valuable, and counts towards economic output.

"Parenting feels consistently exhausting and stressful for a large percentage of parents, but that feeling of exhaustion and stress is felt more acutely by mothers"

What so many seem to forget in this new #covid reality is that school is also not 100% guaranteed #childcare and I'm so glad the article mentions it. Half days, #quarantine, etc there is so much more time during the school year planned and unplanned when kids are home and it seems like the grace that emerged in 2020 for #caregivers has all but gone.

If you're confused why people are fighting like hell to hang on to #hybrid or #wfh flexibility this is worth a read. I don't keep my kids in the house when I wfh (unless necessary, but that's the next post) so I will have to commute 30 minutes each way childcare. Not having to commute to an office after that is a sanity and productivity saver.

This article also hits on the financial reality of 2 kids vs 3 kids being the young point on the financial scale 😫 the system is broken and if employers really want people #backintheoffice they will invest benefits in on site #childcare, lobby for universal prek, etc or keep losing talent

THIS!!!! Hits especially close to home as I'm on #maternityleave and we had a serious discussion about whether paying $30k+ in childcare this year was really worth me going back. It was shocking how quickly I went from "I love my job" to "maybe I have to stay home?"

I think my #themefortoday might be #AmericaHatesChildren We hate all children especially if the have #workingmothers We REALLY hate #transchildren and #childrenofcolor and really, well, as I said, we've never met a child we didn't hate.
