some years ago I read legislation on the UK that required two 15 minute breaks and a 30 minute meal break if the shift covered "a normal meal time" e.g lunch. These need not be paid.
I am pretty sure this was in the Factories Act 1961
I can no longer find that and it seems the working time directive only requires one 20 minute break at no specific time as long as it is not at the start or end of the working day and is not interrupted.
Does anyone have any informed insight?
