>Such attacks have helped make health care one of the nation's most violent fields. Data shows American health care workers now suffer more nonfatal injuries from workplace violence than workers in any other profession, including law enforcement.

Well.

Another mass shooting in .
5 people dead. 6 more to the hospital.

What about the rights of these victims? Who will speak out for them?

Does the shooter's mental health even matter? If he/she was simply able to purchase a weapon of war?

Today In Labor History March 27, 1904: The authorities kicked Mother Jones out of Colorado for “stirring-up” striking coal miners. Earlier in March, the authorities deported 60 striking miners from Colorado. In June, they arrested 22 in Telluride. For nearly 2 years, strikers, led by the Western Federation of Miners, were violently attacked by Pinkerton and Baldwin-Felts detectives. 33 strikers were killed. At least two scholars have said “There is no episode in American labor history in which violence was as systematically used by employers as in the Colorado labor war of 1903 and 1904.”

WTAFF?
This asshole deserves more than just being fired, he deserves to never be allowed to work with people again, without MASSIVE psychological work being done.

Firefighter fired, captain suspended after city investigation into alleged hate crime

cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/otta

✨️ Lowlights:

The investigation stemmed from an incident at Station 47 on Greenbank Road in Barrhaven last September, where a firefighter allegedly assaulted a non-binary rookie firefighter, choking them, lifting them from the ground and hurling gender-based slurs during the altercation, sources previously told CBC.

Sources also said the rookie, who CBC is not naming, went to the hospital the next day after allegedly not being permitted to immediately seek medical attention.

And:

Police are calling it a hate crime and have charged Einagel, 37, with assault for choking, aggravated assault, criminal harassment and forcible seizure for allegedly grabbing the rookie from behind.

Wright, 59, was the supervising captain at the station and responsible for all personnel there at the time. He is charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm for failing to provide the rookie with "medical attention."

One in three U.S. public health workers reported feeling threatened while on the job during the COVID-19 pandemic according to a study of over 26,000 professionals conducted between March 2020 and April 2021. Experiencing any type of workplace violence was significantly associated with an increased likelihood of reporting depression symptoms, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, or suicidal ideation.

How do you deal with physically aggressive white co-workers? Is it worth reporting or will it burn bridges, bridges that I desperately need? I left the job without notice due to fear and lack of safety. Has anyone else had a similar experience? What can we do as BIPOC to stay safe at work and manager physical confrontation?

If you are suffering any level of or , once that behaviour becomes commonplace, it will escalate. You need to take action to stop it, or escape that environment before it is too late.
