Today, I have two things to work on, but would rather work on my own projects :) After lunch, I'm going to pick up my girl from school and go to the library. It's a nice thing to look forward to! #Friday #FunThings #WorkStuff
It's not even 10 am and I have already had a client call (well, potential client than I'm "nurturing"), entered my student loans into a "rehab" program (LOL!!!), and paid my health insurance premium, AND called the mechanic to reschedule. I could just sit back and eat ice cream the rest of the day and feel fine about it. Not really. Now I need to earn a little bit of money. Mastermind call at 11, and four articles to write. #Wednesday #WorkStuff #Freelance #busy

My work calendar hasn't been as empty as it is right now for a very long time. The first week of the month can be like this then by the end of the month, it'll be busy enough I'm worried about getting it all done. #FeastOrFamine #WorkStuff #freelancelife

I really needed time to figure out if I should accept the job offer I got ten days ago. All in all, I've never had a leadership role before and it is also in an area of law I'm not as familiar with. In the end, I thank my best mate for asking the right question- "if you think you can do this job for three to five years, then you should say yes."
I said yes 8 days ago. Since then: I've had a lot of nice compliments from people at my current job, my work best friend actually got a bit emotional telling me he'd miss me, and it's been extremely liberating knowing I can give zero fucks for the next six weeks, passing information on to everyone and making sure the one colleague I could see taking over from me actually gets my current job.

Dinner with our girl became a sleepover. Partner took the day off work to play, I have a client-facing interview (with both the client and an agency editor I haven't worked with before) at 11, and another get-to-know you call at 2. There's plenty of coffee to make up for the lack of sleep. #tasks #SpringBreakFun #WorkStuff

Finally got myself back down to the pool today for water fitness! It always leaves me feeling relaxed. This is a pretty easy work week, so I'm aiming to do some volunteer stuff, work on a personal project, and something I VERY rarely do: pitch a story. This evening we are looking forward to grilling burgers (turkey for me, beef for my partner) and watching the Mandalorian. Maybe we will go watch the sunset. It's nice to look forward to small things. #day #WorkStuff #SmallThings
This week...I started out thinking I'd take off Friday. Last week I thought Thursday and Friday, but then a source couldn't send me info until today, so I knew I'd need to write an article today. No problem. I can do one article. Last night revision requests for a big project hit my inbox, plus I'm way behind on all my short pieces (they usually take 20-40 minutes each). AND the source still hasn't sent her info! Probably going to work tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday. #workstuff #blah
Rolling along! One assignment completed and submitted, one short fast piece done. Now to finish the second assignment. and maybe even get another short fast piece done. #productivity #contentmarketing #workstuff

I decided to skip pool day to try and catch up on work. I *really* want to take off both Friday and Monday (Monday I have plans to go visit a daffodil farm!) but I need to get a lot done between now and then. I'm going to do a yoga practice this afternoon and take the dogs for their regular walk for some exercise. But, I'm also going to finish two assignments, work on my volunteer project, and write as many short fast articles as I can -- the goal is get 4 or 5 of them knocked out. #workstuff
It seems like every week I expect to have "extra" time because I have a light workload. Except, my workload is not actually light -- it's pretty average for me. Today, I need to rough draft two corporate-type blog posts, one based on a presentation and one on several sources. Then I need to add some facts and figures to an existing draft (that's going to be more complicated than it sounds), and write 3-4 short, fast articles. That's not at all light. #workstuff #contentmarketing
Hello, afternoon slump. I have veggies in the oven and lentils on the stove, and a big glass of water. You shall soon be banished—or perhaps encouraged. I never know if food will help or hurt the energy level. I still have a mid-sized article. It's due tomorrow and based on a presentation it's taking some time to just get through. Then, two short, fast things and in between lots of emails. Also need to make up the workout I missed this morning. #tasks #productivity #workstuff #writing

Not at all sure all the brain cells are firing properly today. I'm working in short bursts and trying not to worry too much about deadlines. The things will all get written and submitted on time. Today's mantra: Do one task at a time and don't panic. #productivity #workstuff #todo

The four fast posts ended up taking a bit longer than expected, but I'm still (mostly) on track to complete the day's scheduled work. I need to finish the two posts I worked on yesterday, plus write and send some interview questions to an expert. I was hoping to knock out one other assignment based on an interview yesterday, but it's looking unlikely, especially if I want to fit in a run before dinner. #tasks #productivity #workstuff

Reading a transcript of an interview with an SME from last week, and it's painfully clear that they didn't know what "call to action" means. I should have picked up on that during the conversation, but I was guilty of a common problem: thinking that everyone knows what I know and thinking that my industry's jargon is normal language. #contentmarketing #interviewing #writing #subjectmatterexperts #workstuff

So much post CPHFW stuff on my mind today, both positive and much less so, not sure if I just need an industry friend who 'gets it' to talk to or, if I need to book a few hours with a good therapist! #workstuff #career
One of the signs I'm feeling some level of burn out is that I feel annoyed with edits. Most of the time, I'm happy to revise, edit, whatever. But when I'm getting close to being burned out, I feel criticized by every suggested edit. It's ridiculous, but also something important to pay attention to. #freelance #workstuff #burnout

I don’t know if whose idea it was to do the team building part of staff development for a bunch of people who usually work with small children at an axe throwing centre but I think I might love them. Plus the music they’re playing in here is awesome.
And because I always get everywhere early, I scored parking in the notoriously hard to find parking area known as Sydney, and am not happily chilling by myself waiting for the rest of my colleagues to arrive.
Will save the actual review for afterwards, but so far I am liking this a lot better than being stuck in a sports hall doing the normal corporate activities.

Ugh! Today was tough. Or, as I sometimes say, I had a helluva week today! It certainly doesn't help that I'm still not feeling well. I've been sick since last Wednesday, but 4 Covid tests over that time have come back negative.

I have an article I forgot to write due before midnight. It won't take long, but it's about a technology that causes muscle contractions to improve tone while you lay on a bed in a medspa. It makes me think of the old machines with a strap that shook you so you'd lose weight. Sometimes I really, really hate writing content for med spas, plastic surgeons, and similar. #freelancer #workstuff
