Damn. Delta is offering a round trip flight to New Zealand for $12K right now. A grand to Papeete French Polynesia.

I gotta say, I'm sorely tempted. New Zealand is *very* high on my bucket list and has been for some time – in fact I had a flight booked for there when the #COVID19 pandemic shut everything down.

But I have to decide in less than a week and I don't know if I make finances work. Especially knowing I'll be going to Glasgow next August for the #SFF #Worldcon…

Releasing a work outside of print enables the votes of many people with disabilities to be counted.

@listlessness My only Worldcon so far was #Dublin2019, it was wonderful - I second volunteering as a way to meet people before you get there.

I’ve not sorted travel or accommodation yet but I have my membership and plan to go to Glasgow.

My advice is take the plunge! Even if you don’t meet people beforehand you’ll find like-minded people in the registration queue, or going to programme items, or in the bar/dealers hall/roaming the corridors.

There are ways of meeting people both at & before the con. Find a community of #WorldCon attendees and interact with them ahead of time.

Contact the Convention & ask about volunteeering (volunteers@glasgow2024.org) There are roles to fill for work before and at the convention (Registration, Info Desk, Exhibits, etc.)

There will be things like parties & fan meet-ups & a lively bar scene.

You can also find a roommate to share a hotel room with and then you have one friend!
