An occasion to reflect on the achievements of the GCC states and the outcomes of #IYAFA2022

Since @PLOS celebrated #WorldFisheriesDay yesterday, I thought I would throw our paper from that journal up here. We incorporated #Google trends data from searches for fishing seasons into a model to nowcast recreational #fisheries landings data months before it was analyzed and reported. Bringing in the search data increased the r2 to .94, and a rolling regression showed that the model kept working, year after year. https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0137752
