Labeled as "Leopard Attacked By A Python", but also appeared in an 1855 French book of Natural History as Anaconda vs. Jaguar.

Artist was uncredited.

For #WorldSnakeDay, here's a celestial serpent in the Western tradition: the southern constellation Hydrus (the Water Snake). It is one of twelve constellations created and published by the Dutch cartographer Petrus Plancius in 1597/98. This depiction is from Chart XX of Johann Bode's star atlas "Uranographia" (1801).
