Kaput means broken in German. Considering the key role of #Germany in both the #worldwars, I thought it would be fit to #define 2023 as the #endgame for all of us.

Right from #biden upping the ante by supplying tanks to #ukraine, thereby raising the prospect of a #direct #war, to the ever increasing possibility of a #debt #default by the #unitedstates, there seem to be enough to make my #prediction come true.

Today, we mark #Holocaust Remembrance Day, initiated by the #UN on the anniversary of the liberation of @auschwitzmuseum by the Red Army, 27 January 1945.

I mentioned this in the 1st session of my course on Europe in the age of the #WorldWars yesterday. Not a single 1 of the c. 25 students knew this.

one of the subcategories of German Stamps are the stamps of the Saar when under French administration. there were periods of this following both #worldwars . i recently acquired a partial collection of Saar stamps in order to improve my own collection.

The #wars were *much smaller* and *much less frequent*, because govt needed to raise #taxes to fund them. Taxation is vastly unpopular and thus the wars were far less prevalent (and far less popularised by media).

We cannot compare the last 108 years to past ages.
