It's 1st August and #WorldWideWebDay. However, it is 1st August and #YorkshireDay too. I think Yorkshire was here before the world wide web. Just about 🤔.

Heute ist der #WorldWideWebDay: Am 1. August 1991 postete der Physiker und Informatiker Tim Berners-Lee den Vorschlag für das World Wide Web in die Newsgroup alt.hypertext. Damit wurde das Internet für die breite Öffentlichkeit zugänglich.

Many developers working on the Vivaldi browser were also involved in creating the #Presto engine. Vivaldi founder @jon started working with the Web in 1992.
“I built an Intranet for Telenor Research. Post negotiations, I was allowed small icons on the page, 300 bytes each." Jon remembers. "Ever since I’ve believed access to the Internet is good for society. That's why I founded not 1, but 2 #WebBrowsers: Opera & Vivaldi in #Oslo”

On the occasion of #WorldWideWebDay, it's worth a mention that #Oslo, #Norway has been instrumental in giving birth to two most influential browser engines - #KHTML and #Presto. And browsers such as #Opera and #Vivaldi.
A building in #Oslo has a great history: an incubator of the #KHTML & #Presto engines. Presto had a massive influence on web standards & KHTML went on to form the basis of #Webkit and #Blink, on which most web browsers are now based, including Vivaldi.
