Before harvesting a worn bin you have to make sure the worm-casting is dry enough so that you can sift it.

You need a sifter to separate the worms and the cocoons from the casting.

For that stop feeding your bin and make the worms migrate from the area you want to harvest. Then store the casting in a separate bin in a dryer place.

This is how I compost in bins. The #compost is always covered with cardboard and a lid. The compost is always secured and there is no unwanted pest.

There are a few worms in those bins that make the process go faster. It is not a hot compost it stays cold.

To feed the worms I use the wedge method and wrap some food scraps into some paper and bury it in one side of the bin.

Then I feed this to my worm farm. If I want more compost I get more bins.
