For my pals: how do you go from words on pages... to actual structured chapters, parts, manuscripts?

For context:

I started posting a blurb on Facebook back in 2015, and kept it up every Monday for about five years (if you are in the m*taverse, you can actually find those at . People used to check in with me if they hadn't seen one posted, so they were popular.

I want to honor that time in my life, somehow. Thoughts?

Whilst I wrote this story 8 years ago I always felt it needed illustrations. Thank you Issy Blackhurst for your beautiful paintings. We did it. Available just in time for Christmas. @writers

Which software or program(s) do you all use?

I used Wavemaker for my first two novels, followed by Google Docs/Microsoft Word (and Vellum for formatting). Now I’m using DabbleWriter which is similar to Scrivener. What do you prefer and why?

This might not be the most professional thing to post, but it’s very real and I’m tired of not acknowledging it: writer’s block.

If you have it, you’re not alone. I hope this is somewhat encouraging. The important thing is not to give up.

I suppose now is a good time to mention what I’m working on:

Aestus is my epic dystopian series in which a group of survivors have built an underground city that holds deadly secrets. It’s “complete” (can be read as such!) but I’m trying to expand it. See summary in pic.

I write silly alien short stories/flash fiction.

Currently working on a Kindle Vella dystopian serial, hopefully to become a novella

@graythebruce @doucette515 @wordsmith pardon my ignorance, what’s ?

I’m happy to help! How are you finding traffic data?

So far we have (general looping in/this was what we used on Twitter/can hopefully be a catch-all for people who joined other instances but want to participate) and + for discussion (“what do you think of [WIP questions],” “I have thoughts on querying,” etc.).

Update! (Thanks again @doucette515) - for accessibility, please capitalize separate words in hashtags:

, (discussion)

@szattwellauthor one thing @wordsmith mentioned is that capitalizing the first letter of each word in the hashtag makes it more accessible for those who have text to speech devices. Could I suggest and ? If we do that right off the bat hopefully others will pick up on it too.

@wordsmith thank you! Also just posted about hashtags - for all the newbies from Twitter (incl. me haha) I think using to help others find us would be helpful, as well as for general writing discussion. Just a thought. 😊

I realize I’m new, but very excited to be here! Suggestions welcome!

@wordsmith @doucette515 my brief look through the hashtags says no, but I love this! We could do or (or both), in general, and maybe more specifically and for those two (huge) groups. (If people want to specify grimdark or adult/NA or whatever, they could as well - I would prob just use the general hashtag for mine.)
