I wrote a post about world building for science fiction, and my approach to my current writing projects.

Since I mostly write as a hobby these days, I spend a lot of time thinking about my stories and building the universe where they take place. It is a lot of fun!

Hello world! This is my first post on the #WritingExchange instance, but my main #Mastodon account is @darnell@one.darnell.one (I solo host there).

I enjoy reading & typing (we still call it writing even though we type online nowadays) & despite my initial skepticism, I enjoy using #WriteFreely (I am @darnell@darnell.day over there).

Since WriteFreely does not have a subscription feature (I wish it did), I will use this account to follow WriteFreely posts (& comment on them here too).

Added a second instance of #writefreely to my server, under a different domain name
(e.g. https://clover.serveblog.net/w0dz/)

After setting up #LetsEncrypt & testing, only then try to #follow it from mastodon - here on #writingExchange. It works fine.
But I still can't follow my 1st instance from writingExchange, tho it works ok from other masto instances.
=> something screwy in database owned by writingExchange - I'll just abandon my 1st writefreely, I suppose. No worries.

"Creative Madness"

There was no such thing as hunger,
primitive, running unattended
the long road that led nowhere,
in blind pursuit of nothing,
madness filling all corners,
and so was light among that madness.

Yet it was making life happen,
the madness, sheer power
driving forward the uncontrolled,
the whole, the stunning thunder
of blood filling veins and muscles,
stomping hard the fake, the farces.

And the normal, the obscure limit
that so narrowly tied the masses,
their closed view of searing,
insane classes, caged the others
like nothing, ignored and lifeless,
them also caged, like rotting carcasses.

But madness found its way out,
out of the cage, it flew, it yelled
and growled, creating new shapes,
and sounds, and fought against the tides
of sanity bringing it down,
wanting to cage it back on the ground.

This fight went on, and it still happens,
the mad people fighting in dwindling numbers,
the sane, chained, unforgiving uppers,
building cages to enclose their blindness
and those defiant with creative madness.

I want to thank fellow #Mastodonians, and #WritingExchange people for their encouragement yesterday while I was revising an essay for submission. I found out this afternoon my essay has been accepted! The self-doubt can get all up in my business and I really do appreciate your kind words. They made a huge difference to me. Essays are hard to write because they're personal and that can be a tough spot at times.

Ok, I feel better about my essay now. I made a few more changes. I stuck the landing a little better. I kept in mind some things said in the Roxane Gay youtube (see earlier post). I am going to do this. Mastodon, you're my writing confessor. Also, my ice cream temptation confessor.
